A natural method of energy healing that supports the whole person -- body, mind, spirit, and emotions.
I began my journey with Reiki in 2006. I was a young mother and was wrestling daily with worry and suffering migraines several times a month. I needed something that would help me to soothe those feelings, manage the headaches, and find a way to relax. I can’t remember how I originally heard about Reiki, but once I did, I started reading everything I could find on the subject.
Reiki is a practice that originated in Japan and was developed by Mikao Usui. It is a natural method of energy healing and is based on the premise that a life force energy flows through and connects everything and everyone on the planet. I began to understand that Reiki supports the whole person - body, mind, spirit, and emotions -and this information resonated with me. I chose to pursue it, found a Reiki master, and began my training.
My first workshops and certifications were in westernized reiki and I later trained in traditional Japanese Reiki as well, which I have found to be the more inward-focused of the two styles. I attained my master/teacher level in both westernized and traditional Japanese Reiki. I currently offer in-person and distance Reiki sessions. I also teach traditional Japanese Reiki for animals and people for those seeking classes.
Reiki has helped to promote harmony and balance in my life. For me, it creates deep relaxation that aids the body in releasing stress and tension. Reiki allows me to clear my mind, therefore improving focus and a sense of being grounded, which allows me to feel centered.
In terms of physical effects, people have reported that using Reiki as part of their regimen has helped manage or even alleviate pain and support physical healing. It is frequently used as a complementary practice in conjunction with allopathic treatment. It should not be used a substitute for medical care.
